Project
Management

Project management is simpler than it sounds, and it applies to any project. It can be anything from the smallest operational change to the launch of something entirely new. What matters is having a clear process for moving from idea to outcome, regardless of the size of what you are trying to achieve.

The What & The Why

Before anything else, I spend time with you discussing what you are actually trying to do and why you are trying to do it. This sounds straightforward, but it is often where the most important clarity is found. I will keep coming back to the what and the why until both are genuinely clear, because everything else that follows depends on that foundation being solid.

Determining Viability

Once the what and why are established, the next step is determining viability. What is your expected outcome? That does not have to be financial – but it does need to be clear and defined. Without a defined outcome, you have no way of knowing when you have actually achieved what you set out to do. Getting that clarity early saves a significant amount of time, resources, and frustration further down the line.

The How & The Where

What matters most to me is understanding what your budget is for the project – both financial and in terms of the time and resources you realistically have available. I have no interest in recommending complex, onerous, or expensive systems. My goal is to help you reach your outcome in the most effective, efficient, and affordable way possible, working within the capacity you already have rather than asking you to stretch beyond it.

Deciding When

Once the what, why, where, and how are agreed, we turn to timing. Deciding when to move is just as important as deciding what to do. Some projects need to happen immediately; others need conditions to be right before they can be brought to fruition successfully. I will help you think through the timing carefully and determine when the moment is right to move forward.

Does this only apply to large or complex projects?

Not at all. The same process applies whether you are making a small internal change or launching something significant. The scale of the project changes, but the value of having a clear structure around it does not.

What if I have a rough idea but have not fully defined the project yet?

That is actually the ideal starting point. The early conversations are specifically designed to help you get from a rough idea to something clear, defined, and actionable.

How involved are you once the project is underway?

That depends on what you need. Some clients want support throughout the entire process, others want help getting set up and then prefer to run with it themselves.
